The next one is Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age which will arrive on September 4, 2018 for Western audiences. So far, the game has received lots of positive about both of its gameplay and graphic quality. Quality-wise, this game looks incredibly awesome with vibrant open-world full of color and lively art-style by the legendary Akira Toriyama (you know… the guy who made Dragon Ball series?). How good the gameplay is? We are not so sure. But at the very least, that stunning graphic really makes us want to grab this game.

Tokyo Ghoul vibe, anyone? (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Action RPG
  • Dev: Bandai Namco
  • Release Date: September 27, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls by From Software are the two pioneer games which give birth to the new term: “Souls-like game”. Ever since Dark Souls was released, a number of developers are also trying to replicate the formula to make a new title of their own like Nioh, Lords of the Fallen, and The Surge. This year, we will get to see yet another Souls-like game called Code Vein. Right off the bat, Code Vein gives out a huge anime-ish vibe with anime vampire characters. According to several players who have played the game like FightinCowboy, Code Vein does actually have lots of innovations of their own on top of the base Dark Souls’ formula. In general, if you are a Dark Souls fans (or Tokyo Ghoul anime fans), you will probably want to grab Code Vein (serious, there is a gameplay element in this game which extremely resembles the Ghouls from Tokyo Ghoul).

  • Genre: Action
  • Dev: Insomniac Games
  • Release Date: September 27, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4

One of the star shows in PS4 E3 conference this year was Marvel’s Spider Man which will release on September 27. Back to the day, Spider Man game franchise faced quite a rough road. The last major title of the franchise – The Amazing Spider Man 2 – was only mediocre at best with full of bugs and literally no innovation. Naturally, fans are expecting a lot of this new Spider Man, especially when it is Insomniac we’re talking about here. Marvel’s Spider Man has shown its huge potential throughout gameplay and trailer showcases. Spider Man will have to face all of his most dangerous villains to date as they’ve escaped their prison. The gameplay trailers look extremely cool and let’s hope that it will be just as good as what were shown.

Ticket to our childhood is here! (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Action/Platforming
  • Dev: Capcom
  • Release Date: October 2, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC

It was 7 years since 2010 and Mega Man fans did not see any sign of a new sequel, despite being one of Capcom’s most successful franchises. But finally, Capcom has listened to fans with their surprising reveal of Mega Man 11 coming on October 2, 2018. Graphic definitely steps up to the current gen. The core gameplay seems to maintain the same, with certain additions typically the Double Gear system. By far, Mega Man 11 does not look like a memento of the past; it is a true sequel with true quality. And even if you haven’t experienced a single Mega Man game before, Mega Man 11 should still be a good start.

Assassin’s Creed or Warrior’s Creed? (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Stealth/Action RPG
  • Dev: Ubisoft
  • Release Date: October 5, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Coming to August we have tons of big juggernauts in gaming, starting off with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Judging by what Ubisoft showcased in E3 2018, Assassin’s Creed franchise is venturing to a pretty… peculiar direction. Unlike any previous Assassin’s Creed titles (except for Assassin’s Creed Origins), Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is now more like a RPG game, rather stealth game. It puts even more emphasize on RPG elements like leveling, gears, and skill trees. The game even features dialogue choices – an element which has never appeared in an Assassin’s Creed game before. There have already been many different opinions about this game. Many said that this is a new and fresh direction for the franchise, while many others consider this game to be unworthy of the name “Assassin’s Creed” due to its outrageous change of genre. Nonetheless, it is hard to judge this game for the time being so we can only wait til October 5 and see.

Enter the battlefield! With style! (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: FPS
  • Dev: EA DICE
  • Release Date: November 20
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Battlefield 5… despite not being released yet, this game has already faced extreme controversies in the past months. Gameplay-wise, it is really good. In short, if you have already played Battlefield 1, you can expect no less from Battlefield 5. So what about the controversies? Well… the problem is: most fans expect Battlefield 5 to be a realistic depiction; however, the game throws in tons of diversity without any explanation. For example: women fought right in the frontline, people with bizarre prosthetic arm, a soldier dude with katana on his back, and more… There are so many weird stuffs like these are put in and players are forced to accept whatever they showed. Will this affect Battlefield 5 popularity? Apparently, it is reported that Battlefield 5 pre-order sales are “weak” so far. But still, it is Battlefield we are talking about and we will have to wait and see.

*Edit August 31, 2018: Battlefield 5 release date was officially moved to November 20, 2018.

A pure multiplayer Black Ops experience (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: FPS
  • Dev: Treyarch, Beenox
  • Release Date: October 12, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Another year, another Call of Duty” and this year we have Call of Duty Black Ops 4 which does not have any… singleplayer campaign? This is a huge deal since the Black Ops series has arguably one of the best singleplayer campaigns in Call of Duty history. But in Black Ops 4, they decided to throw out singleplayer and focused solely on multiplayer. In terms of gameplay, Black Ops 4 is kind of intriguing since it seems to combine a number of aspects from different games together like Overwatch’s class-based character, barriers or razor wires resembling Rainbow Six Siege, and the equipments and cooldown felt similar to the likes of Destiny. And while the gunplay and equipments are quite good, the most of the game does not show much innovation. At the end of the day, it is hard to make out of Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Is it just another “Call of Duty game”? Or is it an innovative step from the old games? We will have answer soon enough.

More stories, more “plots” (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Fighting
  • Dev: Bandai Namco
  • Release Date: October 19, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Being famous for its beautiful characters, great “plots” (if you know what we mean), and intriguing combat focusing on attacking and parrying, Soulcalibur 6 finally makes a return with lots of new thing in mind. At its core, the essence gameplay of Soulcaliber remains intact. The characters look great and more importantly, it seems the game will feature a main story and character stories which intertwine with each other. This is definitely a good thing to hear and we are wondering how they will put Geralt of Rivia into this game’s story.

“This place ain’t nothin as civilized.” (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Action Adventure
  • Dev: Rockstar Games
  • Release Date: October 26, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One

Ever since Red Dead Redemption released in 2010, fans have been dying to see a new sequel of this awesome, awesome Wild West game. And luckily after years of waiting, Rockstar Games introduced Red Dead Redemption 2, which is supposed to be much more ambitious than the all-famous GTA 5. Red Dead Redemption 2 will bring us back in time, prior to the event of the original Red Dead Redemption. We get to meet new protagonist and of course, the good ol’ Dutch Gang in action. No doubt this sequel will be much larger than 2010 Red Dead Redemption, if not the largest among all Rockstar Games’ titles. And as the gameplay trailer has just revealed recently, we really can’t wait til October 26.

“Left 4 Dead – The Walking Dead edition” (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Survival Horror/FPS
  • Dev: Overkill Software
  • Release Date: November 7, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Besides Days Gone and Dying Light 2, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is probably the third-most anticipated zombie games in 2018-2019. Frankly speaking, zombie game genre has been walking into a dead-end for quite a long time. The basic formula of shooting zombies and survive is getting boring and players demand something new, something extraordinary. And so this time the developer of Pay Day series – Overkill – decided to jump in this genre with their latest project Overkill’s The Walking Dead. Basically, this game resembles Left 4 Dead featuring 4 players co-op in the universe of Walking Dead. Players are expected to co-operate and plan carefully unless they want to be overwhelmed in extreme tide of zombies. Honestly though, despite the interesting concept, its recent gameplay showcase from Polygon and MKIceAndFire looks rather… pale. At the very least, there is still about more than 2 months and let’s hope that it will be better at release.

Who is going to be 47’s next unfortunate target? (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Stealth
  • Dev: IO Interactive
  • Release Date: November 13, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Hitman, the legendary stealth game with the legendary assassin Agent 47, will make another return with the latest sequel – 2018 Hitman 2. Based on the information and showcased gameplay so far, it seems this Hitman 2 will remain pretty much… similar to 2016 Hitman. But good news is: Hitman 2 will be released as a full game, not in the form of episodic release like 2016 Hitman. And more importantly, Hitman 2 will provide much more freedom and choices in terms of assassination (including the really weird ones). Hitman 2 should be a nice love letter for stealth game fans since there are too few AAA stealth/assassin game in recently months (and especially when Metal Gear Solid series is going to dead-end due to the leaving of Hideo Kojima from Konami).

Let’s Todd Howard’s latest vision of multiplayer game! (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Multiplayer Action RPG
  • Dev: Bethesda
  • Release Date: November 14, 2018
  • Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

When talking about Bethesda, people mostly think about their incredible single-player games like Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls series such as Skyrim. And when Bethesda teased a new Fallout game in May 30 called Fallout 76, there were lots of wild speculations about this game. But what do we know? Turned out it is a multiplayer Fallout game which takes place prior to any other Fallout games to date. Players will assume the role of residents from Vault 76 – the very first opened vault after the nuclear event. They will get to explore a vast open-world where players can decide to do whatever they want with it. To some extent, this is quite a ballsy move from Bethesda. But let’s judge the game any time soon.

Valve’s latest game: Artifact trading card games (Source: Internet)

  • Genre: Trading Card Game
  • Dev: Valve
  • Release Date: November 28, 2018
  • Platform(s): PC

Remember the last time Valve made a game? Yeah, it was Dota 2 released in 2013 (unless you count 2016 The Lab for VR), and come on, Dota 2 was originally a Warcraft 3 map in the first place! Then finally after 5 years, Valve made a new game!… And it was Artifact. The game was first teased in Dota 2 The International 2017 and funny enough, there was a huge “AWWWWW” moment (clearly no one expected Valve to make a card game). So why this game is on this list then? The thing is: the one who leads this game’s design team is Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic The Gathering. So far, the game itself actually looks fascinating with blended elements between Hearthstone and 3-lane battlefield just like in MOBAs. But unlike Hearthstone, Artifact will allow players to trade cards via Steam Community Market. One curious thing though: the game will cost $20 upfront, which was never a case before with other trading card games.

There will be extreme weather condition, typically the insane typhoon ravaging the land. These extreme weathers will be the ultimate test for Rico, or rather, the players if they want to complete the missions. Whatever it is, Just Cause 4 is expected to just as fun as previous Just Cause games, or may be even better.
